I suddenly realised tomorrow is Thursday and I’ve not even thought about getting a podcast post together. However, I then spotted a post in my inbox from Jenny in Neverland (you can see her post here) and thought, yup, that one is for me 😀

First app you check when you wake up in the morning?

I’ve not sure emails count as an app but it’s them, most definitely.

First broken bone?

My only broken bone actually (and long may that remain the case) – my little toe, but I have broken it twice.

First foreign country you ever visited?

Not quite sure but I think it might be France if only because we went on a really long drive to Switzerland (I think!) and we’d have had to cross France first.

My first make-up item?

A small palette of brown crème eyeshadow that was originally stuck to the front of Jackie, or some similar magazine. I wasn’t allowed to wear any makeup at home so waited until I went to my dad’s and wore it there. I knew he would never have noticed 😀

My first ever tape or CD?

I’m not really sure but I think my first tape was Bat Out of Hell by Meatloaf.

My first car?

A hatchback Volvo. A sensible car for an eighteen year old but I think the maximum number I had in it at any one time was about ten – so not so sensible. You’d never be allowed to do that now, although come to think of it you probably weren’t allowed to do it then either!

My first Celebrity crush

They weren’t called celebrities way back then but it was Elvis Presley. I decided at the tender age of four that we would be married when I was old enough. Sadly that was never to be. I was devastated.

My first cooking experience?

I’m sure I must have done some cooking at home but I don’t remember so I’ll say making a pie in my first cookery class at school. I have no idea what filling it was.

My first ever boyfriend/girlfriend?

His name was Paul and we’d play kiss chase at primary school until I left at six. The thing I liked best about him was that he had a soft toy dog and when you unzipped its stomach three tiny cute puppies came out. What more could you want in a first boyfriend?

My first ever mobile phone?

The name escapes me (it might have been a Motorola, did they do phones?) but it was the size of a small brick and I don’t remember ever managing to successfully make a call on it.

My first fear?

Chickens! We kept them, they escaped into the garden all the time, I was threeish and on eye level with their beady little eyes and pecky beaks… shudder…

My first internet activity?

It would have been researching something or other for work I imagine. I don’t remember. I think it was a long time before I realised it was there for fun activities as well.

My first job?

In Boots!

My first language?

And only language, I’m embarrassed to say… English.

My first musical instrument?

Piano. I played it for a year then my piano got moths in it and dad burnt it on the lawn.

My first pet?

A dog, Maginty. He had a tragically short life.

My first piercing and when did I get it?

Earlobes, and they are my only piercing. I was sixteen I think.

My first tattoo?

I don’t have any tattoo’s… yet. 😉

My first soft toy?

A teddy bear that I think I had from birth.

My first thought today?

What day is it?

My first time on a ship?

It would have been a cross-channel ferry, I haven’t been on any other ships.

The first book I remember reading?

It would have been Enid Blyton and I’ll say The Secret of Killimooin as that has been reread more than anything else and has stayed with me – love it!

The first concert I ever attended?

Rod Stewart, the Body Wishes tour in 1983.

The first film I remember seeing?

Gone with the Wind on the massive screen at The Granada in Bedford. There was an interval, plush red velvet seats and stalls as well as a balcony (which is where we sat) and it was all very fancy, or seemed to be.

The first person I talked to today?

My husband. Although I can’t remember what we actually said, you know how mornings are.

The first text I sent today?

To my husband to let him know the new washing machine had arrived 😀

The first thing I do every morning?

Put my glasses on. The world is a blurry place without them.

The first thing I do when I get home?

I work from home so I don’t experience this but to show the difference between day and evening I take my bra off – haha.

The first time you ever got drunk?

It was at the East of England show. I’d been part of a display in the main ring and the person who organised it all took everyone off to the bar for a drink after. I had no idea what to ask for so said the only drink that I could think of at the time – a gin and tonic. No one batted an eyelid and I remember the way it made me feel even now. I was twelve.

This was a fun one to do! If you’d like to do this it yourself, feel free! Please tag me in the post as I’d love to read your answers!

  1. Love the way this doesn’t mention that first time everyone thinks of when they hear “my first time”. And I love your piano career!

    • I know! Though I think that would be a step far to far in our sharing of our lives, wouldn’t it? 🙂 It was a shame about the piano, I could have had a promising career although the fact my parents did nothing about replacing the mothy piano speaks volumes.

  2. Loved reading this 🙂 We’d have had a fight over your first crush though He was destined to be my husband….in my dreams.
