In reply to <a href="https://www.georgiarosebooks.com/joy-flash-fiction/#comment-4104">Diane Mannion</a>.

Thanks for the comment Diane. It was amazing how many words I initially took to write the story then having to cut out a huge number to bring it down to 250. It's interesting how few words you actually need and it does make the writing much tighter! I'm sure you'll enjoy Debbie's book and I shall stop trying to tempt you!! Haha - enjoy!

I like your story Georgia - very atmospheric! I think flash fiction is good for practicing brevity. I, like many authors, have a tendency to be too verbose at times. However, I prefer to write novels as it gives me the chance to develop the characters and plot, and I can really let my imagination run wild. I'd like to try one of the books you've mentioned - you've got to stop tempting me like this - haha! I think I'll download Debbie's as I'm familiar with Debbie's name from various blogs and I know she's very supportive of the Indie community.

In reply to <a href="https://www.georgiarosebooks.com/joy-flash-fiction/#comment-4102">Wendy Percival</a>.

Thanks for the comment Wendy and you're right it is hard but I found it very satisfying. If you can come up with a plot, and that is a big if, I have no idea how the authors I have listed here have come up with so many, then getting that down to 250 words or so is great. After working on a novel it's just so manageable and it's also very good practice for tightening up your novel writing which in my case tends to ramble. I just need to implement it a bit more!! I'm sure you already have more than enough on your to-do list anyway! Thanks for the kind words on my ff story. The main feedback was that it wasn't a satisfying ending - left too open I guess as I think you still need to have a beginning, middle and end with ff. Gx

I'm not sure what to make of the concept of flash fiction. Having cut my writing teeth, so to speak, on short story writing, I now find it oh-so hard to think of short story plots and so I've always imagined FF to be even harder! Perhaps I should give it a go. Then again, I ask myself, do I need to add anything else to my To-do list! (I can never understand people who get bored. How can you when there's always so many things you can be doing... )
I liked your ff story, Georgia. I thought it conveyed 'the fear' very convincingly. :-)
