I completely agree with you G that it's Brenda's honesty that makes this book so engaging. Like you say the specifics aren't always the same but I think there is so much of what Brooklyn experiences that will touch all women of a certain age. A fabulous review which really does justice to this compelling read :D

That is a very complete analysis Georgia. I mean, you really took in the book. You captured what I was trying to convey and I love that you did it without judgement or critical thinking. It's not an easy subject. Actually, there are many not so easy subjects in Shattered Reality but I felt this story, my story had to be told. Most of what happened torwards the end didn't feel like my life at all but that is how it happened. I tried to be as honest as I knew how to be, even though I admit I lied about several things throughout my life. I wasn't trying to wash myself of my sins but wanting to share my human existance with others. Some might see a little Brooklyn in themselves and some matbe not at all.

It was a tough story to put out into the universe and not everyone was so happy. Some feelings were hurt and some went after me because of it. Many friends and family members have yet to read it saying they are not readers. The ones that have read it were surprised. Didn't realize I was going through all that. Had no idea. We wear some pretty good costumes. I was not one to share my feelings in life so this could have been a bit of a surprise.

I am certain my ex husband read it and was furious. Who can blame him? I wouldn't like it either but after the damage he had done, I didn't much care. He might still seek his revenge, actually, I am certain he is not done but at least I have told my part in the story. Wouldn't his side be interesting?

Thank you for really digging into this story. I am touched by your support and comments Georgia.

Thank you Christoph. I appreciate that. When I first decided to have this story published people said to me, "Who will want to read this. It's not like you are famous." I didn't let that opinion stop me from telling my story. I knew it might not gain me some friends but it enabled me to come clean. Before this, I only knew of one divorce over someone cheating and I did judge it, at the time. Still, I knew there were people out there that could relate in one way or another. Growing up, for anyone is never easy. Living your life, is also not easy and we make mistakes.

I found the book a compelling read.
I full-heartedly agree with you: It is so easy to judge others. This book invites and allows us to see and understand instead of judging. A great accomplishment and a good story.
