Pets play such an important role in so many people’s lives and none more so than Peri Taub who, with the help of her person, Barb Taub, has written an excellent book, called Oh My Dog!, on what being a Pandemic Therapist with Paws has meant. Of course, it doesn’t just cover the pandemic as Peri has looked after the Taub’s for 14 years. During that time, they moved from Seattle to England and Scotland, to Spain, to Scotland (again), to Italy and finally to Scotland (yes, again, they must like it there!) where they settled, and these were just the major trips. Peri is an extremely well-travelled dog.

Peri is also a marvel at telling an entertaining tale and this book is packed with them. I loved reading all about Peri and Barb’s adventures and the chapters flew passed as I read about Barb learning how to speak and eat British as well as help organise a proper afternoon tea; Barbs best laid travel plans; and of course, the pandemic years.

The chapter names are intriguing: The Fettauffangtopf is Connected to the Schraubenbeutal, or, I Blame the Loch Ness Monster, just a couple of examples. So, I think this book could be read from front to back, my preferred option, or if you are so inclined (and, if so, possibly a reading maniac!) you could dive right in to chapters that take your fancy.

Oh My Dog! is extremely well written and very funny. I defy anyone not to be entertained by it. But it also shows the love between dog and human and what our furry therapists can bring to our lives, as well as what it means when they leave them. Highly recommended, I’m sure you’ll love it!
