I chose to read this novel as a member of Rosie’s Book Review Team and received a copy from the author. This does not alter my review in any way.
I do enjoy reading detective mysteries or police procedurals and this one was no exception. I didn’t realise it was part of a series to begin with and while it works perfectly well as a standalone I always recommend a reader starts at the beginning of a series. That way you can fully get into the history of the relationships some of the characters have with each other.
DI Fiona Williams is clearly a diligent officer and is already under pressure to solve a series of burglaries against older members of a community. She is therefore less than pleased when her boss asks her to look into a suicide that has already been investigated once. But then there is another “suicide” and when a connection between the two deaths is revealed the race is on to protect others who may be at risk as well as her own team.
I thought this was a great plot. There were plenty of suspects, the story moved at a good pace and the links and twists were cleverly done. Definitely recommended.
Thank you Georgia.
You’re welcome, Rosie.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m so pleased you enjoyed it. I feel very guilty that I’ve only just seen it. I am moving to Wales on Friday – picking up the keys tomorrow. I’m surrounded by chaos and thinking I might have to try crying when the removal company arrives on Friday morning.
You’re welcome, Diana. It sounds like you have more than enough on already. I hope the move goes well, and just think, by this time next week you’ll be all settled in glorious Wales! 🙂
