Legends: Monsters That Go Bump in the Night is an enjoyable anthology that brings together a varied collection of stories exploring the darker side of folklore, legends and the things that might be lurking just beyond the light.
There’s a good variety to the collection, with each author bringing their own style and interpretation to the theme. Some stories are genuinely creepy, while others take a more imaginative or unusual approach to the idea of monsters. I particularly enjoyed the different ways the writers played with familiar legends and gave them their own twists.
As with any anthology, some stories appealed to me more than others, but that’s part of the fun of a collection like this. There’s enough variety to keep things interesting, and the shorter stories make it an easy book to dip into when you’re in the mood for something atmospheric and a little unsettling.
Overall, this is a collection that anyone who likes tales of folklore, monsters and supernatural fiction will enjoy.
