When you enjoy an author’s writing, you will endeavour to read as much of their work as you can, whatever it is. In a departure to the mostly historical fiction that Barrow produces, Live and Let is the lively and often humorous telling of a young family’s move to Pembrokeshire and their holiday let.

The stories told here about some guests show just how funny, and occasionally challenging, the experience was and it is a highly entertaining quick read. However, for me, the highlight in the book is a short story towards the end called Whose House is this? It is exquisite, and worth buying the book for alone. If you haven’t read Barrow before and want a taster, read this, then go and indulge in her novels. I’ve loved every one I’ve read.
