I am part of this author’s street team and received a copy of Summer Song which is a short story. This does not alter my review in any way.

After a tragedy ten-year-old Melody is returned to the house of her grandmother, who she didn’t know existed. But then she also didn’t know she was ‘missing’. There’s only one thing Melody is sure of, and that is that her name isn’t Melody.

I read this short story in one sitting and enjoyed every word. It is extremely well written, well-paced throughout and despite its length totally engaging. It’s also an emotional story and you feel for Melody, for everything she’s been through and you find yourself hoping she’s going to find her place in the family that never stopped looking for her.
