The Prison Nurse came to my attention through a local book group and I bought it because the topic sounded fascinating. I’ve never given much thought to the inner workings of a prison. But, of course, when you think about it, there has to be some sort of healthcare in place for the prisoners.
Sue Reynolds was a prison nurse for 13 years and this autobiography opens the door of some true life events and eye opening stories. As well as all that, it shows the reality of what nursing involves inside a prison.
One reason this writer wrote this book was that when she was starting out in her career, she couldn’t find any others to read on the subject. It therefore gives valuable insight to those who are perhaps considering such a career as well as educating the rest of us who simply want to know more.
Recommended to all who have an interest in what goes on behind the prison gates from a nursing perspective.
