I have read West’s mysteries before so was delighted to see he had something new out. Nice guy Sean Delaney is a man of many talents, artist, writer and decorator being just some of them. Plus, he’s handy with his fists, which is just as well in this tale as someone is out to get him.
Ageing rock star Adrian Dark dies shortly after Delaney paints a portrait of him and Delaney’s wife, who is writing Dark’s autobiography, dies in the same week. Delaney attends the auction of Dark’s possessions hoping to buy his diaries and meets shy bookbinder, Laura Kaplan. However, Laura is not all she appears to be and she leads Delaney quite the dance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. There are plenty of twists, turns and sub-plots to keep the interest but also great characters that make you want to keep turning those pages. Highly entertaining.
