For All Eternity is billed as a book of short stories and I found each one of them flowed naturally into the next with Catshill using the short story format to skip over time gaps skilfully until complete they formed one whole tale.

I like reading short stories to introduce me to the work of an author before I take on one of their novels. There are ten stories in Crime, Conflict & Consequences and as the title suggests this collection covering a range of situations arising from crime or conflict and the consequences of people’s actions.
I don’t think I’ve read a novel written in the second person before but I really liked it and thought it suited the storyline of Ultra Violence perfectly adding a direct, in the moment feel to the whole book. Barry’s attention to detail and his clever turn of phrase is, as always, impeccable and it […]
I was gripped from the first page of The Paradise Trees when ‘The Stranger’ appears. His is a very creepy voice in this story where Alicia and her daughter, Jenny, return to Alicia’s fathers’ home to help care for him. Huber does a great job of building the suspense, as Alicia’s memories of her childhood […]
I finished Rock’n’Roll Suicide in the early hours of this morning clearly having no respect for everything I have to do today. West’s well written descriptions of his settings, situations and characters are beautiful and realistic. Jack Lockwood is very likeable and I quickly found myself caring about what happened to him – and a lot did.
Having read West’s previous book, Rock’n’Roll Suicide (reviewed here), I’d been looking forward to reading Doppelganger and whilst you can sometimes be left feeling disappointed by a sequel I certainly wasn’t with this one. A strapline on the front cover intriguingly reads, ‘What happens if you fall in love with a killer?’ and this hints at […]
It’s Carla’s third birthday so it seems fitting that in my catch up of adding older reviews to my blog I put hers up today. If you want to find out more of how she came about there is a terrific new blog post out telling all… http://greenwizardpublishing.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/happy-third-birthday-carla-heres.html
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kings and Queens and highly recommend it. The whole idea was well thought out and executed by Tyler with it being a modern day story based on Henry VIII and his wives but with enough differences for it to still have individuality.
It’s a truly wonderful thing to open a new book you’ve been really looking forward to from an author whose work you’ve enjoyed in the past. Of course there’s always the chance the book might not live up to your love of what you’ve read before so it’s a relief when you dive in and […]
Pattern of Shadows is a truly wonderful book. Beautifully written this romantic yet heartbreaking love story flows at a perfect pace throughout. I started off thinking one thing only to find my preconceptions wrong as Barrow skilfully leads you through this tale of life at the end of WWII for one young woman, Mary, and […]
